Our Mission: To provide emergency assistance to breast cancer survivors living in Southeast Ohio and Wood County, West Virginia.
We are always looking for people to help out, especially in our outlying counties (transporting brochures and dropping off chemo bags). That being said, we are blessed to have wonderful volunteers.
Our volunteer board is made up of survivors, family members of survivors, and health care professionals. OPRF's board members are Teresa Kirkendall, Cheryl Brooks, Kelly Jarrett, Heather Slaybaugh, Megan Bolin and Edna Frost.
Lee Wood is a survivor who was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2012. She went through chemotherapy and 4 surgeries to complete the removal of her cancer and reconstruction of her breasts.
During her journey, she discovered a many items along the way were not covered by her health insurance, and began to think others might also be struggling financially. In 2014 she founded Ohio Pink Ribbon Fund, with the first donation coming from her mother.
- Emergency Assistance: One-time payments to utility companies, rent/mortgage, or gas/grocery cards to limit stress of finances.
- Early Detection Education through Social Media and displays at local events
- Information to survivors about area services
- Cancer care bags to area infusion centers
- Referral to local/regional services as needed
Silver Bridge coffee made a special brew for us! Pick some up for yourself or as a gift. A donation is requested (similar bags/sizes go for $15). If you are local, I'll contact you to meet up for delivery.
